Adding a sub to the factory base radio

Hi, I am looking to add a subwoffer and amp to the base factory stereo (no factory sub) in my 2011 HHR. I am looking to keep it as simple and modification free as possible. I have experience installing aftermarket radios, subs and amps in the past but that was with simpler vehicles in the 90's.

I have searched the forum and not found anything definitive for the base sound system. My concern is supplying the sound (RCA out) and remote function to the amp. I have a NIB LOC lying around but would like to avoid splicing into wiring if possible. I have seen several people mention this item:

http://www.autosoundcentral.com/PAC_...oemgm1416a.htm

http://www.pac-audio.com/productDeta...&CategoryID=28

Per the sites I have found it states it is only compatible with the 2006-2008 HHR. Did the radio harness change post 2008? Would this work with my 2011? Does anyone have any better suggestions?

Sorry if this has already been covered. Any assistance is appreciated!

So I apparently need to search better as I found a post that basically states it will work:

Will order and will share my results. Sorry for the wasted thread!

So I installed this today and it worked flawlessly. Simplest sub/amp install I have ever done. Had to fish the wire harness through the back given the tight space behind the radio but tucked the unit under the center stack. Given the battery location, wiring power to the amp was a breeze and very few panels had to be removed to run the remote and RCA cables to the PAC.

Those looking just to add a sub on the factory radio should definitely look at this product!

Here is a pic of the PAC installed:

You did good . When you run your RCA cables to the rear , run your remote turn on and 4 sets of speaker wires . If you ever decide to add a 4 channel amp the speaker wire will be already there . Use the after market harness into the factory harness and there is your speaker wires into your 4 doors powered by a 4 channel amp ... Simple quick short cut to get amp power to the doors .
Have fun ....
