The driver's side door speaker is intermittent. The turn signal and other chimes seems to work fine. The speaker just goes nearly silent and just as suddenly works. I was thinking it may be a loose connection to the stereo. Any thoughts?

Dakotadrake, usually the adapter will fit the stock wiring harness and then have a pos and neg wire with a connector that will fit over most all brands of speakers.

Last week end I just cut the old speaker out of the mounting part and screwed a new $15 speaker into it; took 15 minutes. I am NOT an audiophile, I just want sound for listening to audio books.

I suspect that the "compleat cheapskate" could probably just splice the 2 wires to the door speaker together activating the pillar tweeter and bypassing the door spraker.
