I dont have a pic of the other side on this computer.

There is some really cool stuff on that dash. Switches to lower the rear of the frame to get under a trailer, lock both rear axles together so all eight rear tires on the tractor are drivin, The red button is for emergencies. If you press that little red button it sends a message by satilite to the company that you are in trouble. They send a message back to you wanting to know whats up. If they dont get a response within 3 minutes they send fire, police, and ambulance to your location that they can see through gps.

There is a ton of stuff on that dash and you have to know all of it. Oh and this was a 10 speed automatic with 500hp and 1800 ft lbs of torque. I have pulled a total weight of 79,500 lbs at 70 mph. Think about that the next time you pull in front of a big truck.

That was alot of fun driving.

I could probably put together a nice linux-based system with full GPS for less than the price of an avic-d3 with more "features" and better ability to customize later on.

I have no doubt you could do this with the OS / software. The question is if you can get this done and come up with a nice looking setup (case, minimal wiring, no exposed boards, etc) for less than $1k?
