Help! Right channel quit working

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and hoping I could get some help. I have a 2006 HHR and it has the non premium sound system with the 6 disc changer. I'm very pleased with the sound for a basic system but it's now malfunctioning. It seems that the right channel has quit working on the front and rear but the tweeter on the dash still functions. It was intermittent at first but now just completely quit. The dash tweeter remains working. I was hoping it's just a lose connection somewhere in the unit. I can't even figure out how to take the unit out. Has anyone else had a similar problem with this stereo? Please any help or suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks Pat

Mine went out about 2 months ago: I just turn the volume up & listen to mono music recorded in stereo.

Thanks, I've been doing the same thing and I real tired of listening go half the music. Im hoping it's repairable because I don't have the extra cash to get a decent radio.

to the site. Its may be in the radio but you can cheak the out put to the speaker with a test light. after gaining access to the speaker wires unplug the speaker and place a 12v test light across the conection with the volume on high the teat lamp bulb will flicker with the music. if the bulb flickers radios good but needs a speaker.

Thanks,I'll give it a try. How hard is it to get to the speaker? Do I have to take the whole door panel off?

pjtshhr.
Mine went out just like yours. First the r/s rear and then the r/s front.
both speakers were bad....

the front stock speaker is 4 ohms part# 15220248
the rear stock speaker is 8 ohms part# 15220247

GMpartsdirect.com has them for between $15-$20 but try your local Chevy dealer parts department.

You can remove the door panels like here.. let it hang from the door cable and just replace the speakers.
