Question on the XM Module

As far as adding this module and an antenna, I don't think it will work, but I could be wrong. The XM antenna is part of the OnStar antenna, so if you don't have OnStar, it won't work.
If the car has code UE1 and without U1C, if I buy the kit 17800594, do you still need to take the car to the dealer to get the radio programmed for XM? Does anybody know? I'm having a hard time finding the answer elsewhere in the forums.
