Stock Head Unit Bass output

After I installed my sub I have noticed the higher the volume, the less bass the system seems to put out. Is it me? Is there a setting I can change to help with it?(seems there are alot of "secret" things about the car i.e. windshield wiper at over 45mph).

I had this same problem in my cobalt, so i went researching it in Service Information and other various sources at work, and found out GM's setup is kinda weird, it takes bass out at higher volume's, im guessing to help keep the speakers from blowing when a person wont turn it down and various other situations such as that, but thats just the way there set it up.
