Question Installing Subwoofer to stock basic head unit

Hey all,
I searched and read all I could about this install with no avail. I have the stock basic CD/MP3 head unit in my 09 LT. I have installed this system several times into 3 of my previous cars. i am having trouble because I used to have an Alpine head unit which made the install very easy.

I used an Axxess RCA converter. I twisted the positives and negatives together for the left side and connected it to the left front speaker wire in the stock harness. I did the same for the right side. I ran all my wires to my MTX sub and connected my 12" Alpine Type-R. I connected the remote wire to the 12V power for the head unit in the harness. The amplifier is getting power and I tested all the wires for appropriate power and ground connections.

It is not working. I would rather keep the stock looking unit so do I have to buy the premium player? Is it necessary to purchase a new after market head unit?

Thank you guys.

Eddie

Exclamation

i was able to get the subwoofer to work but have no idea what I should tie my remote wire into. I placed it in the #5 fuse for the amp in the passenger foot well, yet the amplifier has constant power. I then tapped into the #6 fuse for the console and still, my amp constantly has power.

Is this something to worry about? Wouldn't the only power being used be for the red light on my amplifier? There is no humming and I don't believe the fans come on.

Please help, I'm sick of connecting and disconnecting the remote wire on every trip...

I used the sunroof fuse (I dont have a sunroof) or you can use the power windows fuse. I used an add-a-circuit adapter which piggybacks two fuses on one plug with a power wire coming out of it.
The only difference with this setup is on retained acessory power the amp will shut off when the passenger door is opened, but the radio itself stays on. Not a big deal.

the sunroof fuse doesn't supply power (won't send power my amplifier) when the car is off and acc off as well?

That might work with the engine on, but not on ACC or after you take the key out on retained accessory power. Why not use the sunroof fuse location as I did? Works perfect.
