what size speakers does the ls have? Just the ones in the doors.

They are 6.5" if you did not get the pioneer speaker system package you will need the speaker install rings.

 

I found that out the hard way. That was a very stupid design by chevy.

 

What do y'all know about these "speaker install rings"? I'm assuming that they are confimed 6.5" speakers.

I have the amplified system and my Polk DB 6.5's mounting holes were just shy of the factory speakers mounting holes. I say this so that you understand that not all speakers of the same stated size will have the same mounting hole diameter. Some 6.75's will be smaller then some 6.5's and then you have some of the 6.5's that may be very small or have only 3 holes. Buy the ones you want and if needed then do a little adapting.

FWIW there is no obstructions behind the speaker. Not even a hint of the window or it's tracks. Clearence in front of the speaker is slightly reduced in the forward most lower corner of the door panels as the panel tapers inward to the door opening.

 

thanks gents. Not sure if it'll need replacing, but that's what I'm preparing for. Pass-rear door speaker is not functioning.

 

I thought the rears were 5"s? I have the part number at home on the repair invoice... Will have to give it later.
