I like just about everything. Mostly hip-hop (not rap, I hate most rap, there IS a difference), new wave, drum n' bass, punk (Pistols,Ramones stuff like that), classic rock, hair metal, e-z listening, disco, techno/dance, just about everything, I even like a few country songs. I grew up in the 80's during the MTV generation so theres always gonna be a special place for that type of music with me, but also have 70's, 60's and some 50's influences. Music is life to me and I MUST have it always!!!

I am pretty diverse in my musical tastes but cant stand emo or todays so called pop music. My better half Dawn loves Metal and Punk and I was so proud when my teenager Dakota told me his favorite band was the Ramones. It would have been a dark day if he said Brittney Spears or some vomit inducing boy band...LOL

Play the blues, just play the blues.... Sometimes I'll slide over to the 60's channel or deep tracks. I've been listening to Sirius more than XM lately because I like the blues playlist on Sirius better.

Classic hip-hop- Aceyalone, A Tribe Called Quest, Organized Konfusion, Souls of Mischief, Eric B & Rakim, Large Professor, etc. Also, a lot of underground hip-hop- Apathy, Murs, Louis Logic, Arsonists, Brother Ali. Some hip-hop instrumentalists- RJD2, Pete Rock, Blockhead. Also listen to Evanescence, Coldplay, Audioslave, a little Linkin Park, some older Metallica.

Well ,you opened a whole new can of worms here, I like most genre's of music except Country (like old country Patsy Cline Johnny Cash) the Country music these days in basically watered down rock and roll, then there is the music that is labeled Rap or Hip Hop, the only band that I was into would have been Rage Against the Machine.

Being a drummer of nearly 31 yrs now, I of course lean towards almost all forms of Rock because I like playing real hard and aggressive music, '70's I would have to say most of my choices are based on great drummers and/or great rhythm sections, Led Zep Bonham and Jones(told often I sound much like Bonham) the Who Entwhistle and Moon, Blue Oyster Cult Albert and Joe Bouchard ( 1 1/2 yrs ago had an audition with them, they liked my sound, but I think they were looking for somebody locally,N.Y.) Deep Purple,Glover and Paice, Black Sabbath, Butler and Ward ,Emerson Lake and Palmer,Lake/Palmer
Pink Floyd, Waters/Mason just to mention a few.

80's would never go without mentioning New Wave or Punk, although there were many great punk bands out there ,like the Sex Pistols, the Clash,Black Flag and the band called X just to mention a few, I would have to agree with an earlier post, THE RAMONES were an incredible punk band ,I mean after all they started the whole Punk Movement.

90's too many Hair bands and they destoyed the true meaning of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, I could go on and on about all the different decades of music, although I don't have a month of spare time to go into all of my music likes.
I also like many of the new artist out there, you know the dropped D seven string sound (although these artist have forgotton what a good guitar solo is)
Bands like, Disturbed,Godsmack,Thrice,Audioslave, and Chevelle are in my huge cd collection.
Well , I don't want to take much more of your time here, I could write about this subject for next month or so....Thanks for taking the time to read my book here

You consider RATM to be Rap or Hip-Hop? I always thought that they were Hard Rock/Metal... I still use a playlist from them as my psyche-up music before hockey games.

I personally like Heavy Alterna-Rap Metal-Hop with a Hard-Blues Classic-Grunge Rock-Reggae feel.
