The Moog struts aren't for the SS you will have a higher front bumper by close to two inches!

The correct front struts are

Hhr Fe5 Strut Rh 19179738

And

Hhr Fe5 Strut Lh 20794824

As per

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/comm...-part-i-48833/

As Mrs. Doubtfire so sternly stated Don't Fuss with Me!
I believe you'll be much happy with the correct struts!

You have the correct new FE5 struts in hand but you're not going to use them ?
Now you're going to get an INCORRECT set of fit any model struts ?

You're probably going to screw up the SS's performance handling characteristics with those "fit all" soft struts. Not to mention the ride height.

Wow. You really should have read the earlier posts in this thread. We tried to help.

I thought I did. Those suggested from GM Wholesale Parts Online
STRUT KIT. Front and Rear Suspension. STRUT ASM/FRONT; SUSPENSION/FRONT made by GM. #20794824
and STRUT KIT. Front and Rear Suspension. STRUT ASM/FRONT; SUSPENSION/FRONT made by GM. #19179738
are for multiple years and engines as well.

Those suggested from GM Parts Center are SS-specific but are not kits, they are just the struts themselves.

Maybe I'm just stupid here, could be.

No, you're not stupid. These descriptions are confusing. They say they're for 2.2, 2.4, 2.0 ... Truth is, yeah, they'll bolt up to any HHR or Cobalt. If you could wade through all that extremely long description at wholesalegmpartsonline, if you get to the very last line, you'll see it:

for: AU46 PERF & HANDLING SUSP(FE5) (2008-2010) (2008-2010)

None of the other strut kits have that. So these will bolt up to a non-SS, but won't be the same as what came on a non-SS.

Guess I didn't read the 'entire' description past the fitment element. My bad. I already have the Moog parts ordered and if they don't satisfy me, I'll check back with the wholesale parts online stuff. Live and learn.

I truly do appreciate the help and advice.

Guess you didn't read my post #12.
The question plus the mention of needing a spring compressor should have told you they were struts only and not kits.

Fwiw. Been discussed many times on this forum. There are no known FE5 specific complete strut "kits" for the SS.
Only FE5 bare struts are available. You just reuse/replace the springs, top mount etc.

So you're saying (1) these aren't for the FE5? While they are listed to fit many, many others and say at the end "For: AU PERF 7 HANDLING SUSP(FE5)(2008-2010)(2008-2010)", (2) or are you saying these are not truly assemblies and are just the strut itself or (3) all the other listed applications have to put up with the FE5 ride and, as such, may actually lower their car?

SHIELD. Shock Absorber/Strut. STRUT ASM/FRONT; SUSPENSION/FRONT made by GM. #21992520
and
STRUT KIT. Front and Rear Suspension. STRUT ASM/FRONT; SUSPENSION/FRONT made by GM. #19179738

The confusion is Wholesale Parts is nothing more than an Internet GM parts reseller!
Their fitment lists are not verified, it's unfortunate but it's the facts!
I've confirmed at my GM dealer , that Chevrolet does not sell a strut assembly complete with spring and top plate.
It's alcarte one part at a time!

So the two links above are JUST the strut and not an assembly, i.e. shields, springs, bumpers, nut, etc.? Getting pieces (and some they don't even show) would bring it to $300 +/- per side. For $100 a side I can live with a softer ride.

Sheesh. No wonder a Chevy dealer quoted me almost $3K to replace a turbo I thought was bad - thankfully it was the solenoids.

I give up. I stated above that only bare struts are available in the FE5's. Are you not seeing my posts ? Why are you again asking about complete assemblies ? There is NOT any you can buy for the FE5 SS setup.

Fwiw. One of those links you gave isn't even for a strut. It's for the shroud. (look at the price)
