Brake pad material

Thanks for the replies. Time to put new pads on, and I wasn't sure what to buy. Heard pros and cons about ceramics. Never had a problem with factory pads, until the warp monster reared its head. Brake dust was never aproblem.

AC Delco Professional Pads and Shoes if you want OEM.
Shoes are organic but I did not see anywhere what the pads are.
To me the OEM brakes work fine around town and not more then 60mph, but they do show weakness on higher speed hi way driving.
I have not experienced too much brake dust on my 2LT with stock 17" wheels but I am an easy driver most of the time.
My 1LT's have wheel covers but still the dust is not a problem.
I really wish I had SS fronts ... Maybe later when these stockers wear out.

That warp monster could be the rear brakes not adjusted, lower control arm bushings and or ball joints worn out. It could be the steering rack and or tie rod ends inner and outer. These all should be inspected. double check all four hubs too.
As for the SS non Brembo upgrade, if your are ordering rotors and pads, you only need to get the caliper brackets to complete the swap, per

Here's about the rear drum brakes

I thought I read somewhere ceramic was from the factory. I have never heard of ceramic shoes.
Beware when using terms like OE and OEM They are not legal definitions and don't mean the same thing to everybody.
If you didn't have a problem with brake dust you most likely had ceramics.

I looked up the AC Pro Pads and shoes and it definitely said Organic on the rear shoes but did not give the material on the front Pads. Maybe a different site would show that info.
The driver I am running now 2010 1LT has 25,000 miles. I bought it at 14,000 miles.
Everything looks Original to me including Firestone tires.
I had GM do a 26 point inspection at approx. 16,000 miles. It was a freebie ...
They showed the brake lining approx. 50% on front ..70% on rear.
I would bet they are also Original pads and shoes.
I have the 5 spoke wheels with Chrome Wheel covers.
I have not had to wash the car since June as we have had little rain and I skirt driving most of those days when it does rain. It is kept in the garage.
There is no noticeable dust accumulation on the wheel covers but some, not much, on the front wheels.
Nothing like vehicles prior to the HHR's
My Venture Van had plenty on dust on the fronts until I had Raybestos Ceramic Pads put on the front.

Thanks for the input. Pep Boys had 35% off so I got Bosch Quietcast ceramic pads and Prostop high carbon rotors for about 92 bucks with tax. Will install them Monday. Had alignment a few months ago, and parts were OK.
