Brake upgrade to SS brakes ....

It is time to replace my front brakes. I am considering upgrading to SS brakes. I am trying to decide which version though. The non Brembo's seem like they would be a marginal upgrade. The Brembo's seem lik they would add a very good amount of extra braking up front.

The car is an 2007 LS with no ABS. This makes me a bit concerned about going with the Brembo's. I am wondering if I would end up with so much force up front that I would lock up the fronts much easier in a hard braking situation that may not normally lock up my current fronts. Not sure if this is a valid concern or nothing to worry about so any input there would be appreciated.

For those that have done either upgrade, how much of a difference did you notice? Would you do the same conversion again or try the other one?

You may have a bigger problem fitting the Brembo's with your wheels. They are close with the stock wheels.

I have 20" rims and they arc out then back in so I should be good to go there. .

I have a '07 LS 2.2 auto, SS non Brembo discs up front and the stock drums out back, never had a problem with locking up the fronts or the rears.
I did not change the stock calipers just the 11.65 inch rotors the SS caliper brackets and GM ceramic pads. That was 1 1/2 years ago and a whole lotta miles.
No more judder either!

Yeah I would not expect any problems with that setup. That is just an upsized rotor being added.

Did you notice a difference in stopping performance? Would you do it again?

Improved stopping distance, no brake judder, the larger disc dissipates heat better,
Larger front brakes and larger brake shoe area compared to the size of the rear disc size equals better stopping power.
Yes I would do it again!
I often ponder putting Brembo discs on all 4 corners but can't afford to change wheels and all the parking brake problems!

Oldblue. Not sure if you know, but the Brembos on the SS are fronts only. The rear caliber/disc are a smaller (GM?) setup.

Not sure what you would need to put a Brembo setup on the rears.

Hmmm. Now you've got me wondering.

Thank you for the input.

A new question has popped into my head that could help here. What is the general concensus about the difference in stopping power between the non Brembo's and the Brembo's from the SS owners? Especially from those that have converted.
