You could, but as Oldblue said, they are rare. I haven't seen a single HHR SS in a yard anywhere near me, and ive only seen one or two in the whole country a slong as I've had one. Hell, I've only seen 2 Cobalt SS' near me in yards, and I just happened across the guy that I got mine from.

2 popped up on eBay with a "gross" search.

BUT, They both say "fits SS" but they both say with drum brakes. I wonder what book they are using. I guess "fits" is subjective.

I saw one the other day described as "independent rear suspension". Independent of the front, I guess.

I mean, you could install it... lol

The ad for my old HHR after I traded it was listed as rear drums(was still disc rear) and a 2.2L V4...

You could just get a piece of 3/8 steel and cut it out to what you need and weld it on to your axle. Scrap steel will cost about $20.00 you can cut it out with a torch and grind to fit, or bribe a buddy with a water jet to cut it out. I had them welded on for $75.00. As you can see its not very high tech to modify your standard axle to install disks. Done it 20k ago works fine.

RF2, that is a great solution if you have a welder and can weld properly.. do you have dimensions/blueprints if any of the users want to give it a go?

If you PM me your address I can send you a cardboard template. If you can weld, use transfer punches, and grind you can install these. All the stock "SS" rear disc parts bolt up. You will have to get rotors, calipers, and the dust shield to set up for welding.

Hey Guys, I searched a salvage yard site for a while found a pair of the Brembos for like 90 bucks shipped, and I found a rear axle From a Saturn ION redline with he calipers and everything for 225 I think.. Don't forget, the Cobalt SS, Saturn ION Redline also have the rear beam with Discs.. they are out there..

Also the Pontiac G5 GT. And it should be known that ANY Cobalt SS will have the rear discs, as well as the 2008 Cobalt Sport(2.4SS, just not labeled as "SS")
