E-Brake effort?

Since my car was new, I have to pull my e-brake all the way up to get it to hold the car in my slanted driveway. Anything less and it won't hold. My wife's fiesta seems to hold much better and so did cars of my past. Do you guys find this to be common?

Here's a couple pictures of the driveway, that kinda show the incline. It's not a hill but the slant is pretty good. I know I can't push a heavy Harley up the driveway without leavin my pants behind.

Sounds like your adjusters on the rear brakes need taken up or freed up, that's not much of a slope. Do you use the E-brake all the time, or like me, when you remember its there?

I use it everytime I park. Always have. It's a 5-speed.

Well the adjusters shouldn't be stuck with constant use, didn't know you had a stick so my bad there. With either of mine the brake is on hard with two clicks, trust me they won't budge. Not having an SS I'm not sure if you're dealing with something that is "normal" to them or not. I'll bow out here in deference to an SS person who's adjusted the E-brake.

E-brake adjustment

My girlfriend's new-to-her 2006 2LT requires a lot of clicks for the emergency brake to work comopared to my 2007. Both have manual transmission. What is normal, and what do you do if it's wrong? Is this self-adjusting or does a mechanic need to fix it?

From what I've been told the E-brake is self adjusting, supposedly the adjusters take up the slack every time you use the brake. By the time Paddy the '07 needed brakes the E-brake needed 4 clicks to hold solid, after my brake tech cleaned the adjusters and snugged things back up, its two clicks just like the '11. Maybe the adjusters on your vehicles need cleaned and adjusted manually because it seems that they are possibly seized/stuck from a build up of brake dust. Just an idea.

Is Your SS still under warranty Gas Man? Sounds like your calipers in the back might be frooze up(piston screws in and out) and wont let the piston adjust.

That's what i'm saying... is there an adjustment on the rear disc calipers?

That's bad funny. Have you ever had it looked at by the dealer? Been like that from new?

Exactly... I don't trust it. If I did I would get a remote start on it, and just park it in neutral.

Nope not anything cleaned/stuck. mine's done this from day 1.

It is still under warranty. And as I said it's done this from day one. Nothing froze up, cause I can roll the car with one foot out the door. Do it everytime I wash the car to clean the inside of the front rims around the big brembos.
