If I remember correctly, the descriptions were:
FE1- Smooth ride

FE5- Performance suspension
Okay. Thanks for clearing that up. So we have the FE3 suspension and I can probably just use the Monroe QS or an OEM FE3 replacement. I just need to gt them replaced so it drives better.

I doubt you will find any that actually will be guaranteed to be identical to FE3, the books don't seem to admit to FE3 even from GM (check the part numbers). But, yes the Monroe QS is a good choice, be sure to get the ones marked with the * on the box under or after the part number. Mine for the LT is 172179 (L & R) ST *. There are much cheaper alternatives on Ebay, if that is a consideration (no judgements, please).

Your rear shocks are worn out too, if you have more than 50K on them. You will notice the difference, at least in stopping distance.

thanks for the info. I do plan on replacing the rears too. I'm also going to do the sway bar bushings and complete lower control arms. The car is a rattle trap now and after reading the posts I think I'm going to do everything since I'm already tearing it apart. I did the sway bar end links (Moog) about 6 months ago.

A darn good plan man, if its apart already get it done, and have to wash up once!! as you have to drop the LCA rear bolt anyways to change out the sway bar bushing bracket
