Thanks for posting this info, I just received over $1000 in parts to redo the front end, along with the SS shocks/struts. I'll have to go check the part numbers against ones in this thread. I did remember to get the problem solver control arm bushings to fit my original arms. Hopefully the ball joints are still ok as i didn't order those. I don't have a press so I'm doing the old BFH/big socket method.
That's a nice special edition hhr you have. Black chrome wheels and trim with the unique "cappuccino frost" paint.

AutoZone loaned a couple of kits that together pressed the LCA bushings.

UPDATE:

Heads up on the strut mounts; the Moogs are virtually the same as the KYBs. Both are made in China and look identical. Moog does not make a Problem Solver-type strut mount, as it turns out. Bummer.

That said, I can now confirm that the problem I am having is not with the mount, but with the strut itself. Now that I have everything apart, I can see that the threads on the shaft are messed up just enough to prevent the nut from fully tightening. I didn't notice it when installing the spring, but now that it is apart I can see why the nut would not tighten any further than it did. It all makes sense now.

I've got a new strut on the way. Hopefully KYB will warranty out the bad one.

I did consider that... but since the hole for the hex wrench was stripped out from the last attempt at tightening, I thought it would be best to replace the whole unit.

The new KYB strut is in, problem is solved. New wheels and tires finally go on after the alignment today. I'll try to post pics this weekend.

Sorry no pics yet, my home computer took a dump on me and I only have access to my work computer. I will post a few after I replace it.

Very late, but as promised:

These pictures were taken just after installing the new Eibach springs and complete suspension. Springs have since settled a bit.
