Woops read a little to fast. I have an LS so I'm still running the fe-1 shocks. I'm gonna upgrade everything when I do a complete drop.

Thanks sleeper. Any idea what "typical" life span is for the OEM shocks?
Yep, I ride...currently `07 FLHX, 103", cams, true duals, etc. First H-D was a flathead 45, but that was a few decades ago. Next time you're in town, stop by Barger's...the only H-D dealer in SFV!

OE shock life IMO kinda depends on how they are used or abused.. Many report 60K or more.. Depends.

Yea, thanks, no telling when next trip will be.. Overdue for sure..

Cool, about yer '07 FLHX. 1st was a 45", same here. 1947 servicar (trike) chopper..

Hey Sleeper...Same here - 1968 chopper trike w/extended springer, ex-meter maid unit. Got out of Army and spent $300 on an El Camino and $1500 on the H-D. Anything north of 55mph and it sounded like the pistons were swappin' holes.
Just ordered the springs. Only 42k on the `08 LT, so I'll wait on the shocks, unless I see signs they are leaking.
Thanks for all of your help. Stop by Barger's, there's a free T-shirt waiting for you!

Cool, I collect them from all over.. Farthest away is Warr's H-D in London. I wasn't there, but did get a T-shirt..

PS: I think you will like the springs.. I am very satisfied with mine. And I haul H-D motors & trannys etc in mine.

Mission accomplished. The info I got from this forum was invaluable. I did make one mistake - I thought the part number for the Cobalt SS springs was for single spring, so I ordered quantity two from Rock Auto. Opened the first box and was suprised to see a PAIR of springs. Now have a pair (new in the box) of Cobalt SS/TC rear coil springs, if anyone is interested. $50 and you pay shipping. Or local pick-up in SFV, SoCal.

If you use Cobalt SS/TC (2008-2009) springs, p/n 25821162 on a HHR SS and it lowers the rear 1 1/2 inch. Then do you need to realign the front end?

can only change toe one the HHR and an inch and a half won't change the caster much.

On a non-SS hhr, those springs only drop rear 1-1/4" after settling.. I can't say about the SS.

But the headlights should be adjusted after the springs settle in.. Those are the springs I have been running for almost 3 years..
