Painting Calipers

What kind of paint to use? I saw some engine paint yesterday and it was rated at 500 degrees, will this work?
thanks
Ron

Yes high heat engine paint will work.....usually cheaper than "caliper" paint and its probably the same stuff

I bought the $20 caliper kit from AutoZone and it's in dire need of touch up and I just painted them maybe 6 months ago. I used the cleaner that's supplied but I don't think I put enough coats on.

I've always used high temp engine paint on mine. Cost less, works better, and gives ya more color choices...IMO.

Unless you are road racing, you don't need to worry about hi-temps. They only get up to about 120F under normal use.
You need to worry about rust and chemicals. A good job of prep will do wonders, and don't spill brake fluid.

As donbrew stated, prep is the key.

Duplicolor caliper spraycan:

I used a small wire brush and brake cleaner to prep my calipers. For color I used Rustoleum Industrial spray paint that I picked up from Home Depot. Covers really well. Large can (larger than reg. Rustoleum cans) was about $6. Only been a couple of weeks but I see no problems as of yet.

I used Eastwoods' Ceramic engine paint.. Brush it on & it levels itself out like spray paint.
But looks like Glass & Good to 650* for just in case,... 1 Quart is enough to paint maybe 5 or 6 rides.. & needs no mix in catylist, so lasts on the shelf also..
