Quick Strut question

Hello all I searched but could not find a simple answer.

I recently have been paying more attention the noises coming out of the front of my 07 HHR LT 2.4l.

I noticed that the boot on the driver side strut had separated from the bump stop and was all the way down at the bottom of the spring area. Obviously this would allow dirt and moisture to get in at the upper strut seal and wear it away.

I also noticed how rusty the strut and sway bar links were... as you can see here

Now my concern is the monroe quick struts.. I did get the * revision I made sure of that thanks to this forum, but I noticed the bump stop is not as pictured on Monroe's website. It is also shoved way down the tube. This does not seem right but it does not slide on the shaft very easily. Shouldnt it be located near the top? With the boot covering most of the shaft?

BTW Yes I know I also need to keep an eye on the ABS wiring, but at almost $200 for new ones I will just let it ride for now.

Not to worry - the stop and the boot will both move into the proper position once installed and you start driving.

And a little squirt of a rust penetrating oil would be wise maybe a couple every other day for a week until you can get the job done , those nuts will not want to move in that condition !
Maybe just remove the swaybar end link at the swaybar and replace the links also!!!

Sway bar links!!!!!!!! I can tell from 1000 miles away. The "10 inch" 9.86" actually, NOT 12 inch.

The Monroe replacements come that way. The bump stop does not care which side of the boot it is on.

I install these quick struts everyday. Nothing looks abnormal. The boot and bump stop will find its way home once they are installed.

$200 for new whats?

You can get new hubs (if that's what you mean) for $45-$150 each.

$200 for new abs wiring that goes from the sensor to the plug inside the engine compartment through the included grommet is $200 for both sides.

And yes I am installing new links and greaseable sway bar bushings too. Already soaking with pb blaster every day! Thanks for the input guys! Love this place!
