I cant fit the compressor for the airbags. The car will be filled with audio gear. I dont even carry around a spare tire.
I guess the best option would be coilovers but they are so expensive. Maybe one of my colleagues in the custom car world can make me some custom heavy duty springs.
Thanks for the help guys.

FM's got a bag in each spring but no compressor. Each bag is set up with a tire/schrader accessible via the rear tailight access panels. So when he adjusts for a load it's just like adding air to a tire.

Yeah, what FM's got is a good method for additional handling and weight control. I used it in several cars with remarkable results.

The bags are heavy duty Rubber and fit inside of the coil springs. The air line leads can be led to a "mutual" schrader in the gas cap filler area. If I remember correctly, the bags held 20-25 PSI total.

The bags are produced by Firestone and AirLift.....can Be purchased from JC Whitney if you can't find them locally. However, there is no listing for the HHR or Cobalt the last time I looked. But, if you had the inside width and length measurement of the coil spring, Whitneys technical people could help you.

But as for your additional weight, I'm not sure 1500 pounds in the rear cargo area is a good idea....or can be overcome logically.

See my post in Gen HHR under towing....you need the bags for an early 90 Cavalier..they are 4" by 4" and sit sideways in the spring..uses the bumper stops as cushion... sounds odd but works good...
