Replacement Shocks and Struts

I am new to this forum as I am also a new owner of a 2006 2LT with 53,000 miles. I have read and understand the various suspension issues these cars have and all in all everything seems to be pretty easy to fix. My question is, I have found replacement struts and shocks by AC Delco, Monroe, KYB, and Gabriel. What are others experiences with the different brands? Specifically, has anyone used the Monroe Quick-Strut assembly for the HHR? I have put these on other cars with good results, they are nice becasuse you get a new strut, spring and upper mount all assembled and ready to go on the car, no compressing the spring or having to take it to a shop to do. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Quick Struts

The Monroe Quick Strut part numbers are:
Front Left-172179L
Front Right-172179R

They are on Amazon and a few other places on the internet for around $140-$150, Monroe released them a few months ago.

The best: Koni hands down, expensive though ~ $600
2nd Best: GM SS struts $80 a corner
The rest: KYB , Monroe , etc cheaper but expect to replace these in another 50k..

Talking Monroe Quick Struts.

DiscountAutoParts.com has the Monroe Quick struts for $127+change. I got 2 shipped to my door for $277 + change. My alignment guy put them on for $20 a side, and aligned it for $38. Total parts and labor $351. And what if they are only good for 50k. How many of you really expect to have your little jewel for another 50k? BTW, Monroes are great for every day driving.

I do thats only 1.5 years for me I try to get 300k out of mine the Q45 and 740sport made it easy I like the SS better hope it will go farther.

I like the SS struts & shocks added the TTR rear sway handles positively racy not too stiff.

I see your logic. Compare a little Chevy wagon to a Q45 (Infinity?) and a 740 sport (Volvo perhaps) I hope your SS Does last for 300k. Ya reckon it'll do it on one motor & tranny? If you use Valvoline(300k warranty) you just might get there. And besides, shocks, springs, ect wear out so gradually that you hardly notice. That is until you have to make a sudden stop or a quick move. THEN you notice.
