Transmission temp sensor?

I had put a Scanguge II in my car hoping to be able to read tranny temps while towing but I guess you can't read that function thru the OBD port. Anybody know if the 4T45e trans has a sensor to read temp or a overheated condition and if not can I add one to support a regular trans temp guage. Also where would I install such a sensor short of welding a bung in the pan? Also I'd like to install an engine oil temp guage too.

The 4T-45E does have a TFT(Transmission Fluid Temperature) sensor already, but your Scangauge II may not have the software needed to interpret the data.

Give post #7 in this thread a read....

TFT Sensor data is readable with a Tech II through the OBD II port, you might want to contact the Scangauge folks to see if they may have a software update available to read that data stream.

It's locked out on some scanners, just like SRS codes and data.
