$12 fills up your tank
My step father worked for Union 76 back when I was a little kid in 1966. He was complaining about a gas war he was having with a station across the street from one of his stations (the one with the Dinosaur, can't remember the name). cutting into his profits. It got as low as 17cents. No .9 attached to it back then. My 14 year old son thought I was lying when I told him that story. Heck they even gave you a glass with a fill up.
I think leaded gas went out in the mid-70's.
What movie was that from? Was that one of the Die Hard movies? That's the father from the Urkel show.
Ya the good ol days (and you still had people complaining about those prices back then too
)
I remember as a kid , my Mom getting $3 of "Ethyl" (Premium) in our '58 Caddy (This was about early-mid 60's) and it lasted quite a long time
Now it hurts enuf getting vehicles filled up, even worse is the ol 5 gallon gas can for mowing etc.(20 ish bux!
) And i got 10 acres ta mow.Imagine the total when i used to fill up the Silverado every week(34gal tank) AND 3-4 5 gallon cans to mow that week,,every week in the summer
I still ain't peachy when the SS gets her premium now, but i have to tell myself i'm going just as far with 1/2 the cost . A lil rough getting used to filling up more often with the SS tho(smaller tank=less range)
Anyone else remember opening up a unleaded filler neck and using leaded gas with a "test tube" instead of a convertor?

when i started drive there was no such thing a "unleaded" 21 cents a gallon... those were the days.
Back in 1970 I lived in Knoxville TN. Some of the stations got into a gas war and were selling regular for 16.9. I had a VW Beetle with an 8 gallon tank. I could fill her up for less than $1.50. Could buy two good hot dogs for 25 cents each. A tank of gas and two dogs for less than $2.00.
