2006 HHR Automatic problem

Yesterday I discovered my 2006 HHR will come out of park with no key on, and no brake applied to get it out of park like normal. I hear a clicking in the console when I apply the brake. any ideas on what it might be?

Have you had the ignition switch recalls done?

The clicking is the solenoids that are involved in the interlock system.

If you scan for codes you will probably find B2705 in history or current.

Thank you Don, I will get that scanned! It's probably not a related problem, but I had to replace the noisy ac/ heater fan, but I removed the front passenger seat to make it easier to cut the fan out , by doing so, I had to unplug the seat wires , the car never had this problem till I did the repair! I have been waiting a week for my eBay shipment for the fan! The HHR has limited space to extract the fan, not a fun job!

Some problems with the shifter interlock are fixed with the recall, some are fixed under the extended (forever) warranty on the shifter assembly.

That's why I asked the question that you didn't answer.

Thanks Don, I'm going to drop the car off at Winter Chevrolet in Pittsburg,California, I like the post where you state it might be a forever warranty ! I just bought the car for $3800, it is so worth it to get it repaired. Sorry for the delay getting back. Completed the fan blower motor , and the resistor , then Fed X dropped off my new tail lights lenses, what a chore, dropped one of the nuts in the cavity where the tail light assembly goes, had fish it out with one of those telescoping magnets! got it, the car looks like new with those chalky old lenses gone! for $88.00 off eBay! Have a good day ,thanks for your help Kenny Strong
