Has anybody insisted that the GM techs call techline? I know that is what the idiot had to do to program my SDM.
The technical name is "three season odometer programming" done in SPS pass through mode to the IBCM.

For the Nth time: It is the EEPROM in the IPC that needs to have the VIN inserted. Then they can communicate. The true mileage is STORED in the BCM not the IPC like many larger platforms. The HHR is built on the Delta platform, other platforms store the data in the IPC in which case you do need to certify the mileage when replacing it.

When a BCM is replaced in a HHR you need to copy and paste the mileage from the old BCM to the new one. Unless you want to have a run in with the state and federal governments.

I think this is a step by step to do the job using the new laptop software GM changed to after 2011.
I'm not sure if the Cruze uses the same firmware.

If it’s an EEPROM, then yeah, it can be written to electronically. Maybe OP would have better luck with a highly capable independent shop or tuner than a dealer.

Ernest, I just saw that one of your post was still awaiting approval, so it's now approved, so everyone can see where you're at with this issue.

What I am running into is dealers are VERY reluctant to do anything with the odometer reading. While they probably CAN change the VIN in the cluster. the dealers I have talked to flat out refuse to do it for liability reasons- i.e. they don't want to be held responsible by the feds for a 'false' odometer. In todays' sue-happy world, I really can't blame them.
I'm now at the point where curiosity is taking over. If I do get my SS cluster to work properly, I will be sure to post how it was done and how much it cost.
I searched on Cruze odometer corrections as well ,and found the page you linked to. From what I've been able to find, 2011 up IPC is a completely different system, hence the sunset of the Tech II. The other thing is it appears you need to have TIS Online to do anything with the VIN encoding on the MDI.
It's all very familiar to me, as Allen Bradley does the same thing with their PLC software, you cannot do anything with it unless you are online and it verifies your license.

You can get MDI software and TIS is pretty cheap.

Yes, as soon as I receive the tech 2 scanner, I'll be trying this.

That is all I am asking, how do I store the correct VIN in the IPC! To get the Original miles to show and replaced odometer to count miles as I drive it!

After getting some local in person help & watching videos, I am going to try a new VXDIAG VCX NANO for GM/OPEL

The problem seems to be no one has actually done it.

No one here, anyway. I would not get anything that doesn't claim to be "GM MDI compatible". TIS2WEB subscriptions are pretty affordable for short term use.
For starters look at this: Techline Connect Diagnostic System Software | ACDelco

My son in law works for a shop, His mechanic has the equipment to "flash" the ECM / BCM, you just need to find a mechanic who has the equipment to do it. This guy owns his, it is not shop provided but he will do them for a fee. I was trying to get an ECM flashed for my Ram and couldnt find anyone but stealerships to do it at an ungodly cost.... But just ask around, put a bug in someones ear and someone will point you in the right direction... look into the small hole in the wall shops they will bite the hook for a few dollars.
