The 2009 LT,,, The work Begins
Yesterday everything is finished and I'm finally on the road! Glad I had the wife run me out to pick it up and go do all the title work and put a temp plate on it, that made the HHR seem much better after trying to get in and out of her G6 one last time, 6'1" 285# with a pinned and plated neck all but two vertebra and severe arthritis! same size vehicles, but the HHR, still a little tight,, sure is a breeze to get in and out of with it's high roof, and a pleasure not to have to set down on the road when you do it! No it's not my old Suburban, but it works.
The new to us, HHR is the same motor the G6 has, just a few more ponies in the HHR in 2009 over her 2006. Man can you feel the difference, but after checking some spec's it's not just because of the motor's mild increase in horsepower. I lucked out even more with this mini suburban,, I said one chore will be, I was hoping to pull my 14' aluminum boat with it comfortably, and found out a lot of it's pep came from the 3.91 gears it is running!! Ya I know there goes a couple MPG but with normal driving, but with rain one hole day and 2 days of mixed driving from taking it to the inspection station,,, a 127 mile trip in state highways there a few little burgs and one town, it's setting at 31.6 mpg after 257 miles. So I am sure I can dig 32 to 34 on the highway on trips, but will still enjoy the benefit of a little easier pulling when were using it to pull the fishing boat!!
So far every single thing has turned out better than I was expecting, even better than I had hoped for, and no it's not an SS,, but after expecting close to the same performance as the wifes G6, I had huge smile on my face the first time I pulled out and slowly buried that pedal on the floor. Trust me it's plenty peppy fer an old fart! Plus the more I dig up the build specs, the more I find this vehicle was built with my options and specs I would have ordered it with. Now if it was just sandstone silver, and they could get rid of that freakin whole they cut in the roof, giving me an 1" or so more in interior roof height, it would be my exact order on a new one!
