Air bag system after an accident.

So here I am swapping out the interior from a HHR that was in a wreck (Had the whole front end torn off) into my 09 panel. I have had to replace the steering wheel bag cause it was popped and the two front seat belt re-tractors.

I know that certain items like the popped bags and re-tractors are a use once and toss item but is there anything else in the system that should not be re used? IE Roll over sensor, side impact sensors.

I am using all the original electronic equipment that was already in my panel but while stripping down the donor car I saved "EVERYTHING" from wire harnesses to light bulbs, and stuffed them in a "Just in Case Storage box".

one time modules are : SDM , rollover, and impact. The SDM needs programming, at least, even a new one.

Thanks Don, I shall toss the impact sensors. Since the vehicle did not roll over would the roll over sensor still be good or does it get "Triggered" no matter what?

Excuse my ignorance cause its late in the day for me but what is a "SDM"?

Rollover sensor should be OK. SDM (Sensing and Diagnostic Module) is the "airbag brain", it lives under the console behind the gear shift.

There are places on eBay that will reprogram your SDM; GM won't.

I installed a new one and the "tech" at the GMC dealer didn't know how to program it.

You must disconnect the battery for 20 minutes before you touch any of the airbag system.

Check your PM.
