Well, slight change in plans - for the good.
The 'plan' is still under review, but here's the update. The SWMBO is on board with my desire to get a classic station wagon, and in fact has made a suggestion. Instead of selling the HHR and then buy the wagon. she has suggested keeping the HHR, which will then become her vehicle. We would sell instead, her 2003 Ford Explorer. I love my wife.......

(Of course she told me she really likes my Sirius XM radio.........)

Good to hear, thought another HHR was going to fly the coop.

Have you narrowed down exactly what classic wagon you're going for yet?

I'm 'internet looking' right now. I'm fairly particular in what I like / don't like. On the short list:
- Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park, 1986-1991
- Pontiac Bonneville Safari, 1965-1968;
- Pontiac Grand Safari, 1977-1981
- Buick Roadmaster Estate, 1995-1996
- Chevy Impala, 1965 / 1967-1968 (would have to be a real nice one)

Also needs to be loaded with equipment - A/C and full power.

Looking at a couple of Colony Parks right now......

The owner of the company I work at had a Buick Road Master and it was. They can still be found at decent prices.

This wasn't on your list, but something to consider:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-...item3376485b00

Or how about Darth Vader's weekend get-away car:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/chevy...item35bc728f2a

That last one was a bit of a joke, but I do have to say I had a '94 Caprice wagon and loved it. It got 24 mpg, rode smooth
as glass, and when you stepped on it, it felt like you were driving a Camaro Z28...and that was totally stock ('94-'96 all came
with the 5.7L LT1). Plus it has a lot of the modern safety features like ABS brakes, front airbags, side-impact door beams, and
daytime running lights.

That Laguna is actually pretty nice. Coincidently, over at stationwagonforums.com, we just had a new member join up who just purchased this:

Original '74 Chevelle Malibu SS wagon (only year Chevy officially built a 'SS' wagon (although it was an option package, not a 'model')
- The wagon's got a 454 in it, from the factory.

Got a buddy over on the SWF that has a '96 Caprice that has been 'SS' -ized, and given a bit of a power increase. Beautiful wagon.

Correction on this...it's a 1973.

Also an update on my situation....

We sold the Explorer today - to the first person who took the trouble to look at it and talk to me. He got a killer deal, too.....at least in my opinion.

Now, the search starts for a nice 'special interest' station wagon. Not sure if I can make a deal, but this one's my first objective:

1962 Valiant V-200 if I'm not mistaken, one of Virgil Exner's more "unique" designs, and part of his downfall at Chrysler.
