Broke shift button (2010 Auto)

Long story short my hhr has the dreaded key stuck in the ignition. In the process of messing with things I broke the shift button on the auto stick shift. Is this replaceable or do I need to replace the entire shifter assembly? Also I think the key stuck is related to the key cylinder because its stuck in the on position and the emergency plunger still doesnt let it out.

Yes the shift button is replaceable but you may end up having to replace the shifter, since you have a 2010 it should still be covered under warranty so I'd get to your dealer as soon as you can. It sounds like the shift interlock has jammed somehow keeping the key from turning, but that's a "maybe" sort of a guess.

@irod87, I have read your post about your situation with your 2010 HHR. I can understand how frustrated this must make you.

In regards to your key being stuck in the ignition, this might be covered under warranty. In order for the dealership to determine this, they will need to diagnose the vehicle. Who knows, maybe if you take your vehicle to the dealership they just might assist you with the broken shifter too. Anything is possible.
