Hey everyone, I just got a 3 channel dash cam ( Front/Inside/Rear ) the front and inside cam is one unit that will mount on the windshield or wherever I find suitable, My question is for those who have the rear camera dash cam , Where did you mount yours and how did you run the wiring, Mine is just a single cable a little larger diameter than some headphone cables. I was thinking to try and route it over the headliner along the drivers side and run the power cord along the windshield over the headliner and down the A Pillar , under dash to power source. Any advice/help with install is appreciated.

 

There is a cutout in the license plate light housing for just that purpose.

Power source is usually the backup light.
Why not spend $15 on wireless modules? Like this, there are others.

Looks pretty wired to me. Im thinking to keep my camera inside in the upper part of the glass for better view angle

 

Looks like most is for backup cams, Id rather keep my camera inside up higher for a better view of whats happening behind me, down low you wont see as much of whats going on around and behind the vehicle behind you somewhat....

One module at the camera one module at the screen. The wires you see connect the module to their respective units, not to each other. One is a transmitter the other is a receiver. How do you think two 12 inch sections of wire could reach front to back?

 

How do you think they get power? Batteries?

I tried running my wires over the headliner without pulling it down ( used fiberglass 1/8" electrical fish rod ) got it fed to the windshield but couldnt locate the rod at the windshield ? as i know it went in enough, pulled it back out and tried again then it wouldnt feed past the rear doors towards the front ( guess I got lucky the first try ) so after about 20 minutes of trying to get it fed back to the windshield I gave up ( too hot outside ) I really dont want to drop the headliner and my just route it under the plastics at the floor/door sills ? Ill mess with the rear camera at a later date,

 

Since there's power at the rear of the vehicle, as well as reverse light circuit, why would you need to run a power wire to the front?

 

I thought I said power from the backup lights.
