I'm so glad I did mine - I cut them so they basically lock flush with the sill.

I didn't do the rears....

I used a dremel with a cutting blade, took no time at all.

 

Resurrected! The door lock knobs are terrible. One day into ownership and they have already pissed me off. I see that the ones for the HHR store are not carried or sold anymore? Other suggestions? Thanks.

 

I put lock knobs on mine that are topped with skulls, at least they aren't pointy.

Most any aftermarket lock knobs should work.

 

Excuse the lack of knowledge, but lock knobs? This will make the knob flush with the door panel? Any pictures?

I removed my oem knobs, trimmed the studs (very coarse thread) & wound them back on.. Now in locked position they are flush..

cost = 20 minutes

 

I've made 2 sets so far.
set I use now are made from 8mm round Aluminum bar stock (brushed finish)

these are anodized Aluminum tube (AKA knitting needle)

 

Go to a NAPA store and order their part#735-1054 which is a Ford part. You can pull your oem door lock posts off with a vise grips and reinstall these with a little silicone. The new knobs stick up about 1/4" when locked and are rounded on top. One of the cheapest and best modifications I've done, a pair costs less than $4.00. The shaft for the posts is a curl pattern, just twist your vise grips as you pull up. No more pain in your forearm when the windows are down!
