Engine cover removal, is it really possible?

Hi, I am a new owner of a 2007 HHR LS 2.2L and I just registered to this site so this is my first post. I did a search on my title and did not find what I was looking for so here's my question...

How do I remove my engine cover? It seems to be bolted onto things and when I try to "gently" lift up, as I have read in other posts, the cover does not budge. It seems to be connected to the car somehow. Could this be? Or am I really supposed to be able to remove it myself?

Thanks for any advice.

Did you disconnect The tubes for the intake and MAF first? After you disconnect them it should just pop off with a little force.

I think they just want to get the plastic cover / air box off....not the valve cover. But I could be wrong.

Here is the How-To I wrote to remove the air box. Probably what the OP is trying to do.
