The LS only came with the 2.2L engine. For the option 2.4L you had to move up to a LT.

What Don meant is that you had to pony up for the 2LT model to get the 2.4 engine.

I deleted that post but it looked like Don was saying that the 2 lt. (2 liter) was the standard engine since that was the question, "What the motor size for the 2011 HHR LS? (Standard)" as opposed to what package it took the have the 2.4.
