Maybe you've read it. Thought I'd pass it along. Very interesting stuff published by GM. It's all about performance building the Ecotec engine, specifically the 2.2. Amazing how many horses can be stuffed into that motor and without major modification. Never would have thought it was possible. Although, I have noticed my 2.2 seems to be happier (and me, too) in the 3500+ rpm range.

I've caught some flack for saying the 2.2's are the sweeter of the two normally aspirated engines that were offered. Having both 2.2 and 2.4 engines to compare back to back, the "tiny" engine is more eager in my opinion, quicker to build revs and happier to be driven hard.

Let 'em flack. Having recently discovered the joy of "I" rather than "D", I agree 100%. The 2.2 wants to be driven. A slapstick sure would be nice.

After all these years, a fellow 2.2L "Heretic".

If the 4T-45E could be set up for a slapstick shifter or paddle shifters it would add to the fun.

There have been several surprised people with my 2.2. I think my 10 has a little better acceleration than my wife's 09. I am happy with both.

I drove all three, and choose the 2.2 for its pep, the 2.4's I drove seemed sluggish, the SS 2.0 Turbo's were quick but I didn't want to be tied to the high test fuel requirements.
Via la 2.2!!!

Here it is:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tc...Fenm7AodAU0AHw

Can be used for "any 4 or 5 speed auto transmission". Not cheap and looks like it will take some work to install.

Never mind. I just found out that doesn't include the Control Unit. The whole thing, with the control, is seen here:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tci-301442/overview/

I believe that includes everything you would need. Too costly for me.

It is. There's something in it for everyone (history, fun facts, tech stuff, etc.). It's well written, too. Puts the 2.2 in a whole new light. With maybe a $2000.00 investment yes, you too, could own a race car! It's tempting.
