Help...

Im having issues with my 2011 2.2L engine. BUT-before I even go there-I eas looking under my hood just now and saw this "thing" just laying in there unattached to anything. Now I'm assuming that this end should be attached to something- right? And if so... where and ehat issues could it be making me have? (And definitely have to have another one bc it is so brittle-like that it tore when i picked it up) Thanks!

No clue how this is just undone!

The Famous Woolly Worm ! Many threads on here about it ! OEM is expensive but many tricks out there.
I have not had to change mine yet so hopefully someone who knows more will chime ! But type in Woolly Worm in search box

That’s called the woolly worm, it attaches to the air box then goes over to the passenger side inner fender to the 3” hole in the inner fender

What specifically is the problem you’re having?

Could be. The engine does better with cool air from other than under the hood.
Tape it up or replace it.

this "woolly worm" is just an air pipe.
Torn - wrap with tape or wrap with stretch film. Stick the loose end under the wing like Oldblue said.
But this pipe rupture cannot be the cause of poor engine performance. Look for the real reason. Start by describing the symptoms here if you want the guys to be able to make a diagnosis.

Ive read so many post that sound very similar to my car! So im goin down interstate & it kinda bogged down/but running. Slowly lost power & died-coasted to a store & towed to my house. When I turn it over it sounds like when you've crunk your car but keep the switch turned over. Like no fire or something. I know a little about cars OR i should say- if i can do it/fix it or check it -I will do it. Any help on what I need to do first appreciated! And no I haven't checked the oil in my car-I do take it to be serviced.

If your HHR has "Slowly lost power & died-coasted to a store " The check engine light should be on. Get the codes read and post the numbers here. (code number, not what the guy at the place says those codes mean)
