They do. They produce them until the tenth year, then whatever is left is left. Its NOS. They don't just throw it away.

Yeah, good for us the Cobalt was a very common car, so parts will probably be made for a long time for them, and many are interchangeable.

I wouldn't worry about the parts supply for many years, probably the first things to get scarce will be the various modules. I'd think that the worst problem any of us will face in a decade or two will be keeping the electronics supported rather than mechanical hard parts. There are always NOS parts kicking about, the fun part is finding them, like the NOS kingpins for the '37 Chevy.

Yep ten years is not an issue and even then parts will be fairly easy to find.

Most mechanical bit will interchange.

The parts that will be difficult will be the high wear trim items on the inteior. They are the first to go and are always the hardest to find if they are vehicle specific.

That's why I'm thankful people are restoring trucks like mine... You can almost build a complete new one with all the aftermarket parts they make for it!

The rear headrest on my 09 HHR were missing when I looked at it on the car lot. The salesman said they would order new ones from GM included in the deal. I never gave it another thought. I bought the car and now 3 weeks later they still can't find cashmere cloth headrest. GM told salesman they have search the country and don't know when any will turn up. I remember guys on the Impala Forum complaining that parts for the 91-96 B body were gone 2 years after production ended. I hope the oem fog lights and floor mats aren't gone before I can afford to buy some. I wish there were HHR in junk yards around here.

Yeah, I wanted the most obscure part for my Lumina, it's an oil deflector that goes under the oil filter so the oil drains down that instead of down the engine block, and mine was broken. Well, after like two years I was finally able to figure out what the part was called, but of course GM doesn't make it anymore. Had my friend at the dealer do a search, and came up with a dealer in Ann Arbor had 1 in stock still. Had to swing by next time I was in the area... All this for a $2 part.

Hi all, I went to the Cleveland auto show yesterday , Chevy had everything but an HHR. The lady at the desk said 2011 is goig to be the last year for it. Most of ya probably already knew this , but just thought I`d share it.
