krishaynes, you may get your wish. It is likely that the 2.2 (or even a smaller ECOTEC) would be used because the tax/registration structures in some countries are based on displacement making the larger engines much more expensive. I would love an HHR with Blutec diesel - it would be a torque monster with great fuel mileage.

HHR to Europe

Hi Guys,

this is my first post here,

just thought I would let you know the roumour has it over here we will get the HHR only with the 2.4 engine with manual and Auto box Diesel is supposed to be coming later probably 1.9 as in the Vectra/Saab 93 but no confirmation of this just yet
other than that no major changes needed no plans for Right hand drive as yet so the UK, South Africa and Austrailia will have to do with out,

There are a few US spec HHR over here in Germany due to the US service men based here then sold on in to the local economy

And the answer is:

Global Offensive: Chevrolet Will Export HHR to Europe

ZURICH, Switzerland — Flexing its muscle overseas, General Motors has announced that it will export the Chevrolet HHR to Europe in the last quarter of 2007. It also announced that it will more than double the original planned capacity of the new assembly plant it is building on the outskirts of St. Petersburg, Russia.

The new GM plant will be able to build 70,000 units of the Chevrolet Captiva and unspecified other vehicles as of 2008 in the area that is being called the "Russian Detroit."

General Motors said it sold more than 132,000 cars on the Russian market in 2006, of which more than 84 percent were Chevrolets. "Russia is our biggest market for Chevrolet in Europe," said Carl-Peter Forster, president of General Motors Europe.

The news that the HHR is coming to Europe is a major step for the Detroit automaker as it hustles to bring such brands as Cadillac and Chevrolet to new markets. The HHR sold in Europe will come with a choice of two inline-4 engines, including a 2.2-liter engine that delivers 149 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque and a 2.4-liter unit that delivers 175 hp and 168 lb-ft of torque.
