Just about ready for some road testing. Tags should be here tomorrow. Pulled as much fluid out of the rear end as i could, and replaced it with some 80w90 Castrol for limited slip rear ends. Old fluid was pretty black. I was able to get about a quart out, and a quart of fresh fluid back in. Drained about 3/4 of a gallon of water out of my cooling system, and replaced it with undiluted antifreeze. Also mixed some 50/50 and put in my coolant jug. Picked up some goof off, and was able to remove the adhesive that my rubber wheel left behind when removing the decals. I'll let yall know tomorrow evening how she does on a 20 mile cruise. I'll probably drive it around for 30 minutes or so, and bring it back just to check everything out.
Got tags and insurance, and we hit the road this afternoon Drove about 15 miles. Cruising speed around 55. Temp stayed around 180-190, no vibrations, and drove straight. Had a buddy following me, said it didn't appear to be going down the road crooked I'm pretty excited about putting some miles on it and driving across the country back home.
My plan is to drive around town for the next couple of weeks. Get a few interstate miles on it and make sure there aren't any issues. The 21st I want to drive to the coast. It's a couple hours, I'll get some interstate miles and extended cruise time to see how it's going to handle a long haul. If all goes well, I'll leave California the next weekend and head to Arizona. About a week there, and I'll make the long haul back to Tennessee. I think I need to get a GoPro to document the trip.
I see you have green anti-freeze. Is it happy with Aluminium?
I must have missed it, but how big is the gas tank?
As Daffy Duck said "Shoot me now, or shoot me later"
Gas tank is 15.5 gallons. Advertised as 17 gallon, but after doing the math on the dimensions on several different conversion calculators, I came up with 15.5 If I can squeeze 20-25 mpg out of it on the interstate that would give me a 300-375 mile range. We'll see when its loaded down with another passenger and all my tools.
