So at the time of this post, cupholder location is the most popular peeve. If that is the worst thing we have to be peeved about, we got a damn great car!

Hmm toss up between window height and cupholder location so I went with window height. I'm 5-8 but when you pull up to a light you have to bend your neck sometimes to see it.
At first I didn't like he cupholder location but it grew on me.

My pet peeves are minor and all fixable. What i don't understand is these are things that seem to bother most HHR owners. So why wern't they fixed before the car was ready to roll off the assembly line. The 3 things that bug me the most are things that you would think that the GM design team should have noticed.
1. Door Lock Knobs. Yes they look cool but they are a real pain in the arm. They don't add enough to the look of the car to warrant the uncomfort factor when you stick your arm out the window.
2. The "Surf Caster" antenna. They are so ugly that it makes me think that GM must have had thousands of these things just taking up room in a warehouse and figured ths was the best way to get rid of them.
3. Drivers side arm rest. This is the one that realy stumps me. Why does the drivers arm rest go down so far? The passengers arm rest stops at the perfect position. What is the purpose of the drivers armrest dropping down another 2 inches? I think this was some bodies idea of a cruel joke.

I just thought of one lastnight while driving after dark. Why do they think we (in the US) need to be reminded that our speed is being shown in MPH, by illuminating the MPH light on the speedometer? I keep thinking my hi-beams are on, from seeing that MPH light on the speedometer in my peripheral vision.

My only complaint is with the fuel filler door on the passenger side.
Hard to get use to. I wonder if it was done for possibly safety reasons?

Lack of a locking fuel door. And Chevy doesn't make them for the HHR as well.

I thought I read somewhere that the gas filler needed to be opposite the exhaust.......not sure if true or not though

I'm not saying that's true or not, cause I don't know. But if it were, wouldn't that mean they couldn't make dual exhaust?

That would be a USDOT mandate. The only exception to this rule is a dual-exhaust vehicle. Single-exhaust, though, the gas door must be on the opposite side from the exhaust exit.
