HHR Sales for August 2007 vs 2006
I recently took a trip through the lot of 'Dan Wolf Chevrolet' in my hometown of Naperville, Illinois, and there were ZERO HHRs on their lot. This is a large Chicago suburb of 130,000+ people, & they have ZERO HHRs on the lot?!? They have PLENTY of every other Chevrolet model, but NO HHRs...
'Dan Wolf' is actually the owner of a 'Toyota' dealership across the street, and I have a weird feeling it isn't a matter of selling out of them but that they just don't see the importance of stocking them. I am seriously wondering why the HHR isn't more popular around here. I honestly believe it is the coolest car available at any dealer from any car company in my lifetime, but I guess most others (outside of the WONDERFUL members of this forum) just don't agree with me.

Most high-volume, multi-brand dealers won't stock them as new because they don't make any money on them. They'll stock a crapload of SUVs and trucks and then sell regular cars across the street at their Toyota dealership where they actually make money on passenger cars.
We have a lot of HHRs down here in rural MO. People just aren't willing to make the jump to Toyota and they also don't want to spend that much money either.

I don't know where these cars are at. I had a hard time finding one on the lot or finding them listed at the various Chevy dealers web sites. The dealers may have only 1 or 4 HHRs listed and most are black. Black IS beautiful, but not for a car in the sunshine state. A/C can't keep up with the heat generated by the sun beating on the car.
I beg to differ, We have had many 95 Plus days here and I have to turn the AC on LOW its so efficient. In this case black has no bearing on the ability to AC the car. The AC is far more efficient and can overcome any outside color or even temperature.
I had this concern as well but it was soon put to rest after a week of high humidity 90 plus degree days,
There's a part of me that doesn't want the HHR to sell very many units, either...as is, I can go days without seeing another one on the road, which makes the car nearly unique out there. You can't go more than five minutes in traffic without spotting at least one PT Cruiser out there, though...they're like ****roaches of the streets! It's a double edged sword: I want to see the brand succeed, but I want to be a standout car as well...it's a paradox!
As far as a black car goes, I also have a black '02 Cavalier that I got as a third or fourth choice on color. I had a black Celica way back when, and learned that black is a pain not so much with keeping the air inside cool, but with keeping the car itself looking clean. Literally fifteen minutes after you wash a black car and it's outside, you can already see a film of dust on it, and a couple days later, you can't even tell that it had been recently washed. Any tiny scratch, scuff, or stain on black stands out more than on any other color, either. My HHR is Imperial Blue, which is also quick to get dirty, but not quite as bad as black. I'm still a bit worried about the long-term looks of the Imperial Blue paint, though...will it wind up being as sensitive as black is? Time will tell.

Yeah black is tough to keep claen but Im not anal about it. I only clean it a when it rains. Maybe Cal dust it in the garage a few times between.
I just cant keep a car looking like I just came from or am going to a car show..Too much anxiety LOL

They way you take it care of it is very important. Granted, dark colors will show damage more than light colors. But the can still look good down the road.
The nose is the worse. But still not bad.
"Sales now stand at 120,000 units per year and GM hopes to increase that output to 130,000 units"
I think you may have misunderstood the post.........the sales figures are FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST and compares THAT month (only) of sales, for 2006 and 2007 (as indicated by the title of the post).
