Hubcaps on 2010 LT

I need a sanity check. I have a new 2010 1LT that has the chrome on plastic hubcaps. The lug nuts are rubber. I noticed one of the hubcaps was loose and then noticed the rubber lug nuts were loose. I suspect these are decoration and not the real tire lug nuts, correct? I have not taken the hub cap off but do not see anything about this in the manual.

They are plastic caps that hold the hubcap on. They screw onto the real lugnuts underneath. Take care as they are soft and will crossthread pretty easy, never use an impact gun on them.

1) remove plastic hubcaps
2) clean & paint steel rims
3) buy a set of trim rings (beauty rings)
4) add chrome lug nuts
5) enjoy the new vintage look..

Actually I saw a new base camaro with the "heritage" steel wheels, black painted with trim rings, looks great IMO.

Confused ... when did the LT stop being fitted with alloy/aluminum wheels? I thought the wheel covers were only on the LS and LT models had better wheels. Interesting.

Mine was new off the dealer lot. 1LT with chrome package, upgraded Pioneer stereo. Has the chrome over plastic hubcaps. They look ok from a distance!
