I may return...
The '06 had ABS and trac control as an option. My '06 LT1 has neither. I learned how to drive before those were ever available. It was the way my '06 came in and was a lot car. I don't miss it. My last car had them (a 99 Buick) and was ok in the snows of upstate NY, but not needed for that now that I'm in Florida.
ChevyMgr shook me out of my stupor when I mentioned that I thought that ESC was a gimmick. I have since learned that ESC is a further refinement of ABS and helps a vehicle to recover from inadvertent departures from straight line driving by modulating the braking pressure at each wheel. I still don't like the way ABS feels.
My first HHR didn't have ABS and my Dodge Ram doesn't have it either. I had a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier and a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, both with ABS. I feel much safer in a car with ABS, proof being locking all 4 wheels up and losing control when in my truck having the accident.
I should be getting my truck back by the end of the week. My buddy offered me a deal that I cannot refuse. $16,000 for a 2007 truck with 67k on the odometer. Gonna get my finances back on track and I should be behind the wheel of another HHR.
