Didn't they, or someone else, also have that in the center of the steering column where normally the horn button is position?? .
Yep, the push buttons where on the dash on the left. The previous owner of my 56 had taken the engine and trans out of a 1959 Plymouth sports fury 318 4 barrel dual exhaust with glass pak mufflers and it went like stink and he had done a nice job of installation other then he couldn’t get the cables right and drive was neutral and visa versus (my theft control), if I remember right there was no park position.

The electric steering wheel push button shift was on the Edsel, (58-59?) it never really ever worked well and was one of the things that let to its demise.

well, I guess i should have paid more attention.

my 06 HHR 2LT A/T has a dead pedal...it is actually a vinyl pad stuck to the top of the carpet on a pedastal next to the left kick panel. Feels like a dead pedal to my foot, just softer...

dead peddle

Sure would be nice if they did offer paddle shifters. At least on the SS. I've been driving sticks on and off for over 46 years and never heard of a dead peddle, though it sounds like it could be a welcome feature. Resting your left foot on the clutch peddle will wear out your throwout bearing. At least that is what I was taught.
