It depends. If you have a sunroof, then you just have to pinch the sides of the plastic piece the light is in and pull down. If you don't have a sunroof you have to drop the headliner and remove from the top. This involves taking off the A pillars and visors. I had to also take the wire that goes to the light and pull it off the headliner. It's glued and you can take it off if your carefull. Then you have to feel for a clip and pull it back towards the front of the car, and the piece the light is in pops out. you can pull it out from under the headliner now and remove the LED (it just pulls out). Then trim the wires on the new bulb to fit and plug it in, making sure it is the right way (it won't work if it's backwards). Just remember to be very carefull with the headliner becouse the foam board will break.

The only red I found was a 12 volt, and was very dim. I tried installing it first, so it would match the color of the exterior of my car, but it was so dim you couldn't see the window switches, or anything else for that matter. The blue LED worked much better.

It's not really as hard as I may have made it sound. I'll say again just take your time and be carefull. One more thing, if you have the grey interior make sure you have clean hands, and keep them that way. The grey shows dirt and is hard to clean.

that light doesn't bother me at all, I like that its on, if I need to glance at something, I can keep my hands on the wheel, and see what i need to see with quick glances.

I used to think that way as well, but now that I have been doing contract work for GM for the last year and have a better understanding on how they do things, even what appears to be a simple change to us is not as simple as it seems.

Don't get me wrong, I understand how something so simple can be a pain to change, this is a BIG change in many things (wiring/parts/process in assembly ect.). But............I secretly still think they should fix it.
