Lift Gate Struts

My son's 2011 LT2 needed new lift gate supports ! Will see how long mine last ! But I do wash mine a lot in the winter and so far they look good. I still will never be a car mechanic but did learn some stuff today :) Found out 1 mounting plate ball and socket was rusted off :O So ordered a new plate, I was surprised how easy those 2 mounting bolts came out !Have a great day

Bolts? I just remove the clips and remove one side at a time supporting it with broom handle, clean and lube the ball and socket , then replace the strut.

The bracket that bolts to the car the ball part rusted off so has to be replaced ! The struts were super easy to pop off the ball and socket ! If the Ball on the Plate was not rusted off the job would be about 5 minutes ! But like a ton of stuff there is always something to throw thing off lol

I hate when the rust gets in that socket and eats up the pivot balls. You found replacement brackets?

Yea found the bracket online, E bay and Amazon has them, My son has a Amazon account and gets points or something like that , got it for less then 8$ delivered,instead of 21$, should have it by mid week. I may ask Dave to grab me 1 or 2 just to have
