Looking to buy an HHR
Gearguy,, the HHR is an awesome vehicle and it's too bad they stopped making them.
I had a brand new '07 with the 2.4 engine. All the extras and the Golden Teal paint which was rare.
The car was great until 60k miles and the bad valve guide problem showed up. It actually started at 50k plus when one of the plugs was fouled. The dealer just changed the plug and did not go any farther with it.
Got a Chevy dealer in florida where I spent my winters to fix it under warranty.
The problems continued after I got it back. Tecnician workmanship error was the next problem. The crank pulley was not torque properly when the head was replaced ant it came loose. Car ran but made alot of noise.
Back to the dealer for that to be fixed.
When the valve guide problem started I was in the process of turning the car over to my son in law for our granddaughter to use.
The car continued with more problems, this time starting problems. It was like a bad ohmen had came along.
My son-in-law did not have time to be taking a vehicle back to dealerships. He decided to sell it to Carmax. I agreed with his decision.
Would I buy another HHR? Yes, as I think they are still a good vehicle and the values have gone way down which I think makes them a good buy.
Go to all posts by bigallis1 and you can see my write up on the valve guide problem.
Good luck........

Bigallis....Thanks for chimeing in and I think that, the fact that you still liked your HHR and would buy another, despite the problems you had is very interesting. It's yet another indication of the appeal the HHR continues to have, long after production ceased...
Yes, agree the interest is still out there on these vehicles, especially the SS.
Forgot to mention, my '07 ended up at the Carmax in Sanford Florida. Would be interesting to try to track it down just to see if it still exists.
