Unhappy Loud tapping/rotating noise when cranking

2011 2LT

When cranking and shutting down inside the car it is making a tapping/rotating noise. Also very very audible on shutdown. During driving it it there especially going down hills and braking not noticable on acceleration comes and goes at speed. No performance decrease, if anything after we hit 15k total miles it seemed to start running and accelerating much better.. who knows. Any help on this before I roll into the dealer and waste a day or 3 there would be welcomed.

Also any way to get GM Service to just fix all the TSB's on your car or do I need to "complain" about and reference each one?

Thanks

I'd say have it looked at as soon as possible. Checking the service manual for a similar condition brought up the possibility of a broken valve spring, a stuck valve, a stuck lifter, a jammed oil filter bypass valve, low oil pressure, a failing oil pump, a blocked oil pump intake screen, bad timing chain tensioners, and a stretched timing chain.

Not trying to freak you out, but since you are hearing the noise during startup, shutdown, and various engine speeds...its pointing to a possibly serious internal issue with the engine.

TSB's are informational to the Tech.'s and assist them in a repair when a problem may EXIST in a specific area. THEY ARE NOT REGARDED AS RECALLS OR WARNINGS THAT A PROBLEM DOES EXIST.

Thank You Snoopy, I read about TSB's in post all the time and find it humorus. Some think that they need to bring it to the dealer to get it repaired .

It could be poor fuel quality also giving you an octane knock. Try a different brand or a higher grade octane fuel.

Loose exhuast bracket. Everything is running fine. Had them check a few things here and there no issues, got my second key fob and new owners manual. Nothing to do but drive the ol silver girl and put that ss spoiler on it in the next 2 months!!!
