I was tooling down the country road last week at night & suddenly came upon a huge pothole in the road after cresting a hill at about 50mph, & in the middle of it was a large chunk of pavement standing vertically, about the size of a brick. I managed to straddle the hole & not hit it with my wheels but the oil pan took a direct hit, BUMP A DUMP! I thought surely I had trashed something under there so I stopped & got out with my flashlight & all I saw was a big black streak on the leading edge of my oil sump & no damage whatsoever. I was duly impressed. My HHR is a little bulldozer.
