With a Panel you can enter through the rear side doors.

The easiest solution was given above - park so the sun does not hit the hood/windshield area.

I know this is an old post, but I will keep this in mind for next winter. My best advice would be to make sure you put a few coats of fresh (preferably polymer) wax on the running boards in the fall. Wax really helps keep the snow from sticking.

P.s. Not to be snotty about it but, if you wanted a car that was made for MI winters, a Ford Escape or Subaru would have been a better choice.

I live in a snowy state, too. I was thinking of spraying the area in question with some WD-40 when I know it's going to snow. It won't repel the snow, but it'll be lots easier to clear afterward.
