I just re-read the original post, the one complaint I have to disagree with is the lack of storage space.

With all of the options in the back and the two in front, the HHR has more storage compartments than any car I've owned. I love the one in the center of the dash!

If you buy a new vehicle then try to trade it in 6 Months later you're going to take a big hit in the pocketbook no matter what make or model it is. That's just the way it is unless you happen to have an actual "Lemon" on your hands. Just because someone doesn't like this or that feature doesn't make a car a poor choice. You're the one who made that choice remember!!

I don't think anyone is shooting anybody down. We all have our likes and dislikes when it comes to the HHR. Those with 2006 model year had hoped that Chevy would make improvements on the 2007. My guess is that they didn't. I think the real sad thing is that most automoblies just aren't built the way the used to be. Build'em quick and get'em out. As for me.....well, whatever breaks will be repaired. Luckily my dealer provides great service. And my HHR? It's gonna be mine for a long time.

Hey Taylor
That is great Because I know what you paid for it because I was lucky as I said my Brother In Law who works in the Mills in Indiana was able to help me purchase mine with his Suplier Discount and that is almost the same as GM Employee price. Man You got a deal. Thats Outstanding.

You are Da Man

Good luck with you Ride just give it a chance, You will end up loving it.
Remember the HHr is not a Car, SUv and not even a Station wagon, The HHr is a very special vehicle as you can tell on this Site some one is always talking about this vehicle.

You my friend have a very special vehicle

By the way you have great taste

Talking hard to please...not me

I guess some people are harder to please than others, and the HHR may not be the right vehicle for everyone. When I purchased my HHR I hadn't driven one, heck, I had never even looked inside of one or sat in one...I had seen drawings of them a few years back in Motor Trend, and right then I knew I would own one. And I LOVE my HHR more than most people love their own family, and I can't think of ANY other vehicle EVER MADE that I would rather own right now...I too could care less where the cup holders are or that the door locks stick up (I actually like them how they are!) or if the interior has plastic pieces or whatever, this car is AWESOME to look at and a PLEASURE to drive!!!
the only thing that can make me happier is the day that we go to pick up our second HHR, which can't get here soon enough!!!
Then I will never have to drive anything other than an HHR!!!

No OS handle for passenger.
Plastic everywhere inside, like a child's toy, or model car, not a real one.
Non heated exterior mirrors.
Firestone tires. (need I say more?)
Front brake rotors too small, brakes squeal and vibrate on a new car.
Ugly plastic looking antenna in the middle of roof.
No light's on the visor vanity mirrors.

Maybe GM could sell more cars if they thought about customer satisfaction. It seems they have not learned what people like and don't like in over 100 years of building cars.
Where is the engineering and comfort forethought in the HHR? Even in it's second year?

The cup holders are located poorly and are too shallow.
The door lock plungers stab your elbow if you try to rest your arm on the window sill.
The armrests are too small and too low.
They also must be lifted to hook the seatbelt.
Serious lack of storage space, maybe a center console would "fix" several things.
Poorly located window controls, non illuminated.
While i don't think the HHR is perfect. I can overlook some of it's flaws. I agree with most everything mentioned except for the antenna, brakes, and window controls and to a lesser degree storage, a center console bin would be nice but it's not necessary, if a storage console doubled as the arm rest you could solve 3 of the mentioned problems in one! I can even see benefits to the window switch locations since it allows the front seat passenger to control the rear windows (Think road trip with children) The driver doesn't have to deal with something they don't have too. Despite it's shortcomings the HHR is the most enjoyable vehicles I have owned so far. I think GM has done amazing things in the last couple of years and the HHR is one of them. They can only do so much before the cost of the vehicle exceeds the reach of very market it is targeted at. I am sure they could have made the HHR perfect but at what cost? GM did something right, they turned this longtime Mopar fan into a GM owner.

You forget about the problems so fast it's unbelievable. Take a long trip in it and see how comfortable the HHR is and how seldom you have to stop for gas. I still have my minivan and have to force myself to drive it to keep it running. I usually reward myself with driving the HHR. I don't know if other new cars feel like this. I hadn't had one in 8 years but I love the way it handles, the power, and most of all, the looks.

to each their own. my last new car i purchased was a 1995 impala ss. there have been many vehicles since then that i have debated about, but it was the hhr that caused me to go out and get a new car again. it is certainly a neat "budget minded" vehicle. i hate when people call it a station wagon, so i call it a mini suv.
mine is a 2007 2.2 ls auto, with very few options. i got it without the running boards because i dont like how they look. they remind me of the cheesy fender-flare running board combos on the dealer modified southern comfort pick-ups. but see, thats just the thing. every one has their own opinion.
i did alot of research and gm has come a long way on build quality and standard list of features. standard power windows and locks? standard remote starter on the auto equipped vehicle? both great ideas that in the past would have required me to purchase some option package that would have undoubtedly come with crap i didnt want.
in summary, i think the price was a bargain for a great looking, smooth running, unique vehicle that brings about a ton of emotions in not only myself but thousands of people who have had the pleasure of owning one.
